News from the Vineyard and Winery
Greetings all,
Two quick
updates:
From the vineyard: Our
Frontenac and Prairie Star grapes are getting ripe so we're
going to begin harvesting this Saturday,
September 17th at 10am. We will be picking grapes off
about 800 vines and we could really use some help.
It's supposed to be mid 60s on Saturday and should be a beautiful
day to be out in the country. There are no special skills required
and we expect to be finished by noon. We'll have clippers,
harvesting forks, buckets, food, & drinks available. If you
have a favorite pair of clippers, feel free to bring them.
The vineyard is at the intersection of county roads 103 & 105
just north of Byron. If you just put "Post Town, MN"
in MapQuest or Google Maps, you'll find the location. Here's
a MapQuest link to the site: http://mapq.st/qHTNne
For those
who prefer directions: Take West Circle Drive (county 22) to Valley
High Drive and turn West. Travel about 4-1/2 miles and turn
right (north) on County 103 (gravel road). Weave around on
the county road (over the river and through the woods - not necessarily
in that order) for about 2-1/2 miles. When you cross the bridge,
you'll see the vineyard on your left. Feel free to call my
cell phone if you're lost.
From the Winery:
We had originally hoped to
open the new winery location in July. Then the state of Minnesota
shut down and delayed us about 6 weeks. We were then shooting
for Labor Day weekend, but then the reality of the amount of work
remaining sunk in and we moved it tentatively to this Saturday.
You've probably figured out by now, that we then realized that we'd
be picking & crushing grapes all weekend and couldn't manage
an open house at the same time. We've now moved our Grand
Reopening positively (probably) to September 24th from 1-8pm.
However, you're welcome to stop in while
we're crushing grapes this weekend starting Saturday afternoon around
3pm. The address of the new winery location is: 4481 North
Frontage Road NW, Suite #6, Rochester, MN 55901. Unfortunately,
we just found out that while MapQuest routes visitors to the right
location, Google Maps (and Droid cell phones) send them to the other
side of town. Here's the MapQuest map to the location:
http://mapq.st/rhNyqz. It's the 3rd
building from the end of the frontage road on the NORTH side of
Hwy 14 on the West side of West Circle Drive (county 22).
If for
those who prefer directions: From Hwy 52, take Hwy 14 West.
Exit North to West Circle Drive (county 22). Take an almost immediate
left (West) on to the North Frontage road. Travel to the third
building from the end (Plaza 14 building). We're on the West
side of the building.
If you are coming from the North or South
on West Circle Drive (county 22), just look for the North Frontage
Road exit about 100 feet North of Hwy 14. Take the frontage
road West until you reach the third building from the end. Feel free
to call my cell phone if you're lost.
If you think you might be able to help with
the grape harvest for even a half hour, we'd really appreciate it.
If you could reply to this e-mail, that would help us plan for food
and drinks. Thanks everyone!

Prairie
Cougar (2008)
From Minnesota grown Marquette grapes, this
seductive deep red wine of Pinot-Noir parentage has been lovingly
crafted for your tasting pleasure. Experience the complexity and
richness which promises satisfaction from start to finish. This
luscious red cut of garnet in a glass is finely balanced and fragrant

leaving a satisfying finish that is sure to please again and again.
This wine pairs well and runs the gamut of what great red (table)
wines are about...delightful with a rich mushroom laden, sour cream
topped beef stroganoff. It's serves up spiritedly with a sweet vine-ripened
garden fresh tomato marinara ladled over fresh pasta. And simplicity
at its best, in all its glory a carnivores purest pleasure- an excellent
