Two
New Wines to Celebrate the Summer!

Please stop out sometime this summer and help us launch
our two new varietals. Besides the new wines, we continue to have
the following 100% Minnesota Grown wines for tasting and
purchase ($15 + tax, $140/case):
First Embrace (2006) - Our top-selling red
varietal. Plum-cherry fruit with that's aged nicely. This Frontenac
varietal is perfect for summer Sangria.
First Blush (2007) - A fan-favorite Rose' made
from crushing and pressing the Frontenac grapes the same day. Excellent
summer wine when served slightly chilled.
Prairie Gold (2007) - An interesting white
from the Frontenac Gris grape. By popular demand, we've settled
on a slightly off-dry version of this wine. Not syrupy sweet, but
not dirt road dry either. Hopefully, just right.
Prairie Breeze (2007) - A varietal made from
the Prairie Star grape. In the e-mail version of this newsletter,
I was a little critical of this wine. The truth is that, as the
winemaker, I was disappointed in how it turned out. The Prairie
Star grape is probably best used for blending but winemakers around
the state have been unsuccessful in creating a wine that can stand
on its own out of this single grape. Well our attempt was equally
disappointing in my opinion, but I received feedback from a number
of people who have (bless their souls) purchased the wine and thoroughly
enjoy it. It's a light white wine with hints of pear; somewhat reminiscent
of a Chablis.

2010
Releases
LaCrescent
(2008)
14.5%
Alcohol
From Minnesota-grown La Crescent grapes, this refreshing white wine
is reminiscent of a Riesling with fruity aromas that present a pleasant
sweet bouquet. Taste the mango, pineapple and grapefruit flavor
interchange. This well balanced La Crescent wine is excellent served
chilled as well as close to room temperature and pairs nicely with
seafood.
Marachel
Foch (2009)
12.0%
Alcohol
Marachel Foch is a cold hardy early ripening grape which has a vibrant
deep purple color with dark berry fruit characteristics, an earthy
light-medium structure coupled with flavors of toasted wheat and
mocha. This enticing red wine pairs well with wild game and bitter
chocolate. .
Wine-Tasting Charge
In
the past, our wine-tastings were free but we lost a lot of wine-glasses
last year.
This
year we'd like you to bring your own favorite wineglass for a
free tasting or pay $4 and keep the commemorate wine glass.
